It's that time of year folks.
Those of us who chase his majesty, the King, start paying laser-focused attention to the weather forecast.
In our neck of the woods, it's a good bet that the first half of June is a critical time.
Thus far, the conditions have been good with plenty of warm moisture and tons of bugs.
come the Fourth of July, we usually start seeing momma and her chicks hitting the gravel.
By August they should be flying.
Remember, the July 8th date doesn't mean you have to run dogs on wilds.
Take it FWIW from a guy who lives in U.P. crouse country....it's better to wait til August to let the dogs loose, both for the dogs and the birds.
Here's to, hopefully, a good hatch.
