The Hatch

It's that time of year folks.

Those of us who chase his majesty, the King, start paying laser-focused attention to the weather forecast.

In our neck of the woods, it's a good bet that the first week of June is the critical one.

Our emotional health the rest of the summer will hinge on a seven to ten day window.

Cool rain and we start praying to whatever form of higher power we believe in, asking for a secondary peak in hatching at a later date.

Warm, dry, and full of bugs, and we say thanks to our higher power.

Is there a direct correlation to weather and chick mortality?

U betcha...sleep tight.
