My grouse hunting lifestyle would never have happened if it weren't for one Dennis Stachewicz, Sr.
Weekend trips to the cabin in Northern Wisconsin throughout my childhood cemented my love for the outdoors.
It was his getaway from a nasty war in Vietnam that took some of his soul, and eventually his brain due to Agent Orange.
We never had dogs back then, we just walked and explored the then Nicolet National Forest.
Just the other day a friend of mine identified him as Grandpa Grouse and I thought it fitting.
Grandpa Grouse left us peacefully this morning to go check on a few of my bird dogs who reside in a Kingdom with endless grouse cover.
My dad, my hero...your war is finally over.

Sending prayers of sympathy for your family Dennis. Based on your personality I bet he was a hell of a guy. He’s finally free from those damn demons from Vietnam.😟Thank you Mr. Stachewicz for your service and sacrifice to the United States!🇺🇸
May He Rest In Peace.
Sorry for your loss. Hold on to those great memories of walking the grouse woods with him. Prayers for peace and comfort for you and your family.
So sorry, Dennis and family. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
A wonderful tribute to a wonderful man! I'm so sorry for your loss. We have all benefitted from the legacy started by Grandpa Grouse and I will be forever thankful for that.
You, your family and mom are in our thoughts and prayers. Your father left a heck of a mark on this earth and sure raised a fantastic son. May his memories last for eternity.
