When?

You may be wondering when is the right time to take a puppy into the woods.?

As long as you have a bold and inquisitive puppy, the answer is "what are you waiting for?"

When we have a litter of pups, they are in our grouse woods at 5 weeks old as a group. By 8 weeks, they are on their own and as inquisitive as can be.

Recently I took our new pup, Drummer, along for a day of grouse hunting when I went out with the big dogs.

He got to ride shotgun in the truck, go on puppy walks, flush birds on said puppy walks, sniff birds that I brought back to him that I harvested over his momma and his aunt, drink from the water bottle, get some beef jerky (spoiled), and meet some friends in the field.

All good stuff that will pay dividends in the long run.
